Evolution… from a Mormon perspective… Well what’s to say?

We definitely can say that the Mormon perspective on evolution is evolving.

Just a note up front. This blog is not so much about the official Mormon or LDS position on evolution because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has no official position on evolution. The Leaders of the LDS or Mormon church adopted a wait and see approach shortly after Darwin’s theory of evolution emerged and started making waves in Religious circles. They felt this matter should be left in the hands of the scientists to uncover more and increase our understanding. This official position still stands.

This blog is more about how the opinions on evolution by members inside the church or the Mormons themselves have evolved over time.
This blog it also about how my personal feelings have evolved on matters evolution.

This personal evolution occurred as a natural process as I (a Mormon) have wrestled with the evidence produced by science and getting to grips with related concepts in the scriptures. My personal progress over the last 35 years has probably followed the same highs and lows of general Mormon sentiment.

So first up I will start with the basic principles involved in the study of organic evolution and what I have learned about the principles of the gospel while studying these evolutionary concepts.
